"There is one thing that, when cultivated and regularly practiced, leads to deep spiritual intention, to peace, to mindfulness and clear comprehension, to vision and knowledge, to a happy life here and now, and to the culmination of wisdom and awakening. And what is that one thing? It is mindfulness centered on the body."

“What you believe you become.  Believe in beauty, for the earth mother is covered with beauty.  Believe in love, for your earth mother and sky father love you.  Believe in magic, and you release your soul from the prison your mind tries to build around it.  Above all, don’t be afraid, the Great Spirit provides all that is needed.  Believe in your medicine.  Believe in the work you are doing to become an instrument of the Great Spirit’s will.  Believe you are where you should be.  Believe that your life is progressing to it’s proper destiny.  Believe in beauty.  Believe in love.  Believe in magic.  And you will realize you are truly beautiful, loving and magical.”

--Neil deGrasse Tyson

I’ve been volunteering with this non-profit organization since 2010 and on staff as a Teacher Trainer since 2012 helping to educate, prepare and support our volunteer yoga teachers. The mission statement:  Fostering healing and resilience through trauma-informed yoga. We offer classes in prisons, alcohol and drug recovery centers, shelters, community health clinics, and more for both adult and youth populations.

This list was lovingly put together by my friend, Dr. Montserrat Andreys.  Go support your local black, indigenous and people of color's businesses!

EVOLUTION HEALTHCARE, Dr. Montserrat Andreys

Chiropractor, Portland OR

I've known Dr. Andreys for many years and continue to get treatment from her for personal maintenance.  She's a flamenco dancer, Pilates and yoga student, former massage therapist, anatomy nerd and social justice warrior.  All of these things influence her depth of knowledge, tool kit and work.

Berkeley, CA
This studio is the baby of my best friend and colleague, Kristin “Kiki” Lovelace.  You will be delighted at the warmth and skill that this community of teachers and practitioners ooze.

One of my favorite authors and healers....she’s spiritual and pragmatic.  Enough said.

Mountain View, CA
For the absolute highest quality of Pilates education and movement genius, go take a class at COB.  If you want

to be a Pilates teacher, go study with Tom McCook!

Portland, OR

While Christy is primarily a wedding photographer, she is also a badass yoga photographer.  I'm continually surprised at her effortless (seemingly) picture taking.

Seattle, WA

This man is so full of life and love.  Never have I felt comfortable in front of a camera, until I met Stephen.  I am so proud to display his beautiful photos on my website and to call him a friend.

For decades now, this is the only magazine that I have subscribed to... it is full of inspirational and educational stories, interviews and tidbits.  I cry, I laugh, I learn.  Every time.  And best of all, it is free of ALL advertising, existing solely on reader support.
